Carbon Fiber Brake Ducts finished

I just finished installing the first set on my '83SC today. I designed them so they would "wrap" around the strut and clear the brake lines. Then I built molds for the left and right side. Also made them to accept the 3" hose. I can make more if anyone is interested. Next if there is any interest I'll build some molds for the 930 rotors. Aside from the 7 1/2" inside diameter of the rotor are the spindle and backing plate bolt patterns the same?

Beautiful work. What kind of price would you expect? Can you omit the mounting holes for those of us with raised spindles, who need to route the hose under the control arm?

ANTGON, KTL, thanks for the compliments, I was shocked at the amount of time it takes to make the plugs, test fit, and then make the molds, it was all a lot of fun though.

ZOA NOM, 150.00 per set shipping included in the lower 48, no problem not drilling the mounting holes in them for you. I checked these for mounting under the control arm on my car but they hit on part of the casting below the control arm. They may work for your setup with raised spindles though.

Nice work, what does the rest of the setup look like? Post some more photos of the intakes and hose routing if you can. I'm in the process of upgrading my AJ-USA under a-arm scoop and am looking for ideas.

Many thanks.

I'd be interested in a pair just like that except for 930 rotors. I have RSR struts with 911 hubs and 930 floating rotors.

Wow those turned out really nice! I have toyed around with carbon fiber and vacuum bagging before and it is certainly not easy. Good work! Count me in on buying a pair if you decide to do a production run of them.

What's on the other end of the hose? One of the standard fiberglass bumpers, or did you fab up some ductwork in the stock valence?

I have a pair of 930 brake ducts if you need any dimensions. I got the kit from Paragon Products.

Carbon brake ducts and routing

For all of you that asked about the rest of the routing of the hose here are some pics of that also.
I basicly used GeorgeM's set-up with the split tubing, I used 2 1/2" ID sprinkler pipe which has an OD of about 2 7/8".
The front valance is a fiberglass one modeled after the 934/935. The front holes on the valance were about 2 3/4" so using the 2 1/2" pipe I made bushings by turning down one end so it would fit inside the valance.
When I cut the holes for the A-arm in the tubing I drilled them a bit undersized and using a file I shaped them so they would still be a tight fit when it's all clamped together.

Bumper inlet

Don, great looking carbon fiber product.

Now that you know what it takes to get to a finished product - you might consider this companion item.

I made these inlets for my race car with it's S bumper and 3" hose. (But after further development getting a larger opening for air to my oil cooler took precedence). The molds were completed and a few proof sets was made. These inlets are form fitted to a "S" bumper - this includes the 934/935 with the lower "S" lip. Bumper fit and clearance to the inner fender was essential.

It was made to be attached to the back of the F/G bumper requiring body work and painting - or - you could paint the unit and the bumper cut edge black and glue/pop rivet it in place. (2 hour install vs the bodyshop route).

This would be an option for you to get a 3" front opening, which would be a 20% increase in size and far better air flow volume. If your interested, $100 for the set including shipping in the cont.US.

To answer your question: the 911 Turbo air ducts have the same bolt and axle openings, the diameter is just increased to 7.5".

Bob
