Maybe they should stop naming them such cool names like "Stunt Road'? DUH!
What else are you supposed to do there? ![]()

"High-performance vehicles racing into the early hours of the mornings on Stunt Road and neighboring canyon roads."
They say that like it's a bad thing. ![]()

Who said our driving is reckless? They can't take away all the fun.

I lived in LA for a couple of years. That's a fun drive.

Come on, guys. They're only targeting the reckless drivers. I'm sure if I pulled out my SCCA competition license, they would let me continue.

Well, that's enough to keep me out of there. The benefit I see is that if the resources are concentrated in the SM's, then other areas will be light on the patrols. It's a long way for me, but I've been anxious to try out Francisquito Canyon Road, when they get it fixed and cleaned up. And, I can take Angeles Crest over there. Now that's a ride and a half.
I'm also waiting for the Glendora Ridge Road to open if it isn't already. We better get in some runs while we can, because with the amount of rain, the fire potential is going to be historic and the roads will be closed for sure during any hot or windy weather that occurs from late summer on. And last year, they closed it all over the July 4 weekend. I don't blame them and I wouldn't go up there then anyway. ![]() |

Well there is an alternative.
GO TO THE TRACK, it's way more fun, you have multiple instructors, way more "running" time, faster speeds and way more fun.

Big Rubber,
Read their web site. They think that track driving is "doling out your sports car in 20 minute spoonfuls." By the same token, they don’t seem to think much of Porsches. Apparently, according to the web master, Porsche lost its way shortly after the 910. The copy in the website is a little over the top, but I defiantly see their joy in doing long hard drives. Here in the Northwest, Dane is famous for planning and executing his 1000 km in one day drives. I can’t think of a better way to enjoy my car then to push it hard for 6 or 8 hours.

It's true. What people think of as brink-of-death canyon driving is just plain slow compared to a track.
Still. Glendora Ridge, here we come. ![]() (Fortunately, we have more twisty canyons than we have traffic cops.)

Ducks in a row through the canyons is fun but as I said before... Yes canyon carving is fun but only on the track can your car be fully appreciated. Once you track it you will find the euphoria of the street experience in a 911 doesn’t come close to challenging the potential of these cars, or you. Sorry it's true. If you like tight twistys do an AX, if you like 130 mph sweepers try Big Willow or Cal speedway. |

Ted,
I autocross regularly and go to the track occasionally. The opportunity to drive at and beyond the limit autocrossing and getting instruction and practicing skills in the controlled conditions of the track is valuable and fun. Here’s the non-PC part: I also love going for very long 'spirited' drives on my own or in small groups of good drivers on roads with reasonable sight distances. I don't do 10/10s on the track and certainly don't do it on the public road. Nevertheless, 7/10 for hours on end on unfamiliar roads is a different and special challenge for both man and machine. To me that is what the folks in Stuttgart had in mind when they designed my car.

Big Rubber,
I would tend to think that the mountains of the Alps and Tyrol may have crossed their minds once in a while... ![]()
