unclezak?

Hi I was just wondering if any of you guys know what's happened to "unclezak"?

Is he still about / alive / trading etc, as he appears to be "no longer a member" on e-bay.

Thanks in advance

Doesn't seem real active around here, either. This is his cell #: (541) 543-4344

OR was.

Thanks for that. He used to be from what I remember. Was wondering if anyone knew of any news as to where he's disappeared to.

It appears that he dropped off the face of the earth. I haven't tried to call him but he no longer is returning email. Unfortunately I had some unfinished business with him.

Looks like the phone is the way forward, unless anyone can shed any light.

I've talked to Unclezak a couple times. The last time we spoke, he was saying something about needing back surgery...

I'm sure I helped get him off eBay along with the other guy he tried to sell a stolen vehicle to.

Beware.

I had good dealings with him for a couple of years. Always hard to get ahold of, but seemed decent enough. But then he claimed to own a car he didn't (and misrepresented its condition as well) and sold it to me via eBay. Another Pelicanhead who lives nearby said he was accused of doing the same thing locally, and then another vehicle he sold on eBay turned out not to have a title...

If you search on unclezak here, you'll find a few other folks who indicated they had unresolved problems with him, as well.

Wow! That's some wild stuff, Tech. Although "no title" doesn't always mean "stolen," right?

Not always, but when you claim to own a car, knowing that you do not, claiming to have the title, knowing that someone else is holding it, I'm not sure what other terms really fit.

Many older cars are sold with a "bill of sales" only. In some states they will not offer a title transaction for old cars that have been off the road for some time.

I have bought parts from him and found him helpful and reasonably forthcoming. He did leave out a few unpleasant details about my car that became apparent after delivery. Oh well, thats Fleabay for you. I still own and love the little critter he sold me.

The phone was the only efficient way to deal with him. Even then, it usually required multiple voice mails and calls. He seemed to be getting more into RS "clones" as of late working with a local body shop. I do recall your scenario "techweenie" and it seemed more a case of stupidity than out right fraud. Not saying that made it better for you but maybe less of a mark on him than intentionally peddling a stolen car.

I think it was the above mentioned incident that made him dry up around here.

Except that he did intentionally peddle a car he did not own. The car did have a California title, which I ended up purchasing instead of allowing the owner to take the car from me. Unclezak originally promised to "make it right" then denied any liability, whatsoever.

OK I've done my home work now and read up. Looks like he's well and truly burned himself good and proper.

Tried to visit his site but McAfee was not pleased with it at all.

It also looks like I'm in a very long queue of people looking to get hold of him to grind an axe or two and resolve some unfinished business.

cars

How about taking your car in for resale on consignment, selling it and photoshopping the pink slip.(title) That is why 911 PCC disappeared. Burned about 10.

He committed to buy a motor from me, and tied it up for a month with continued promises "the check is in the mail" etc. It was infuriating to have a $5k+ deal tied up for weeks with no closure, and I thought it was extremely rude. But, after reading stories like Tech's, I'm just glad that all I suffered was wasted time and delayed cash flow.

Seems like something major happened in the guys life, to go from an OK, get there in the end kind of guy to a rip off off all comers type of person and to muller himself on here and on e-bay.

It is only this thought that keeps me from giving him any kind of benefit of the doubt.

I bought a 78-79 SC long block from Zach that was dissassembled. It appeared piece by piece over a 3 month period. I was OK with that as I was in no rush, but the annoying part came when my engine builder called to tell me the heads were from a 2.7. It took me another 6 months to get the heads from him.

I bought some Webers from him, took a while to get, and they were really just bodies and manifolds. Anybody need some IDC's?
