Pelican get together in Atlanta
Several years ago, we got involved with the Walter Mitty vintage race at Road Atlanta. This event has mushroomed into a major event with car corrals, tons of vintage racing Porsches on track, test drives of new cars on an autocross course, FREE parade laps, opportunities for faster laps on track in your own car, seminars, meet and greets with the people who shaped motorsports over the past 50 years, and new for this year, a classic car auction.
Well, we’re going to do it again April 27-29, 2007 at the Classic Motorsports Mitty Presented by Mazda out at Road Atlanta. I talked to Wayne Dempsey a few weeks ago about getting a group of Pelican Parts forum members together at this event. It seems so much goes on, on the west coast, it would be cool to get a group of us together back east. We’re sectioning off an area called The Sports Cars of Germany and want you to be a part of it. If you and your club would like to reserve space within The Sports Cars of Germany, E-mail bill@classicmotorsports.net and to let him know how many you’ll have coming. For more details and ticket info, visit www.TheMitty.com. We look forward to meeting all of you and having a great time with you at The Mitty '07.

I will try to make this. I may be pushing the envelope in Apr. with track ventures. Working the club race at the end of this month, Roebling Rd for a DE and the following weekend is the Mitty.
The spousal unit may not be happy I have been in the doghouse before so... I took my son to the Mitty last year and it was great.

I doubt the 911 will be back together that quick, but it sure would be a nice gathering.
Would you object to me mentioning this at my local PCA group meeting, or do you prefer to keep it "Pelican Only" ?

I'm trying to see if I can race. Not sure as I have a lot of events already scheduled for the year and April is tax month. I'm saving my brownie points for Rennsport 3, then HSR Daytona and HSR Sebring Season Finale.
Will try though ....

Harvey, if I'm home and get 'permission', I'd love to go. I'll have to wait to see what happens in the next month. I'm in NW Arkansas right now.
It would be very cool if we could get the local pelicanheads (Daniel, KC, Jim, Randy, etc.) to go to the Mitty. I'd love to go! Mike

I always wanted to attend, but only as a spectator! Which day (saturday or sunday) is the best day to attend? The schedule of races is not out as yet according to the website.
Pelican are you selling merchandise at the event? shirts? caps? etc? Thanks Bob 73.5T - Sepia of course |

I saw this on the web and always wanted to attend. I plan to be there. Hope to see many other pelicans and P-car nuts. I have nothing on my schedule for that weekend, unless it's golf related. Oh well, I can golf anytime, only see great cars once in a while.

How many Tennessee pelicans going? Maybe a caravan could be in order. Is it basically every person for themself or can you call for tickets and tell them you are with Pelican or PCA Region(??) and they will have an area for you to go to? Sounds and looks like (based on the pictures) a lot of cool stuff to see.

The more I think about it, I may relive some of my "yute" and tent camp like I did in the 70's.....hmmmmm. Can my 50 y.o. back take it? And if it rains, I can have jeans and t-shirts permanently tinted with the Georgia red clay.

Thanks guys. The weather will be better than Hershey, that's for sure, or nearly for sure. All are welcome, from 87 Carreras to others not in the Pelican fold. we are just trying to make a cool central point where all kinds of sports car guys can get together. We have a lot of things planned. By the way, that black TR3 in one of the pictures posted is mine! I will have it there, as well as most of out other project cars there.
