Yes with some minor mods, especially to the rear I think.

Try Rennsport Systems or Vehicle Craft.

Question

Rear 930 rotor bolts right up. Rear caliper has to be machined to fit (as seen in Vehicle Craft's link). Must remove rear splash shield and also the shield's mounting ears on the control arm.

Front caliper bolts right on but you need the 78-79 floating rotor assy. or a special hat (Vehicle Craft, Rennsport Systems, KnightRace)

This might give you a little background as well (Links in the first post are dead but the commentary that follows is good).

http://forums.rennlist.com/scripts/rennforums/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001463

Not a Carrera, but you get the idea of what's involved.

Here's Jack Olsen's upgrade:

http://members.rennlist.com/jackolsen/Brakes.html

Not a Carrera either! Dang.

Try these:

http://tech.rennlist.com/911/pdf/Upgrading_Porsche_Brakes.pdf

http://tech.rennlist.com/911/pdf/911brakecaliperoptions.PDF

http://www.rennsportsystems.com/~porsche/2c.html

This subject has been discussed regularly so do a search to see what you can find. Bill Verburg's and Sherwood Lee's posts will show up and tell you what you want to know.

how about using the whole 930 arm, made possible with these pivot boxes from smart racing. i'm doing this on a car with the G50 torsion tube, (mine), so some modification of the part is required. not for the meek. the stock geometry is retained on a lowered car by adjusting the pivot point up or down. there's another piece that does the adjusting that's not shown in this mockup.

John, that looks like an awesome piece. I'd love to weld that on any car. Just curious, does the piece(s) missing look like the serrated pieces the stock car guys use on their panhard bars?

widebody911(Thom?),
Fitting the 930 rotors to a narrow body car such as a SC/Carrera is a bit more of a problem than on yours. The 81-89 front rotors have an offset which is incompatible with the Carrera front fender flare. 2 piece rotors(floating or non), with zero offset, are required.

Thanks for the info Bill, excuse my ignorance, but what is the definition of floating/non-floating rotor? Also, the zero offset rotor you speak of is custom made or original on a certain model year? I have 17" C-2 turbo replica wheels and I love my current fender to tire clearance, wouldn't want to change it.
Thanks!

I forgot about the widebody vs narrow-body issue.

Mike the mechanic,
Floating Rotor info

For narrow body applications a custom made flat hat(rotor adaptor) is needed to mount the oem 78-80 304x32mm 930 front rotor to a normal SC/Carrera hub. The 1 piece 81-89 930 rotors as used by Thom F.(widebody) have a ~22mm os(from memory). There are also other manufacturers of this size(and larger) 2 piece rotor, the most popular being Colman(they do a lot of NASCAR stuff and Alcon(big in DTM, F1 etc.), Zimmerman and of course Brembo.

Bill, your a star! Thanks for going out of your way to help! All the info is greatly appreciated. I think I will go with the S4's in the rear, since they require less work to fit, with the 930 rotors, and 930 calipers in front. Is it possible for a machine shop to modify my rotor hat to fit the 930 rotor?
Thanks again!!!

Mike not to be pushy but you would do well to emulate Rattlesnakes installation. Either S4 or Big Red front with little red 30/34 rear. The S4 pistons are far too large to give any kind of reasonable bias when they are used in the back. There are 3 different little red Brembo calipers and only 2 are appropriate for the back the 28/30(ok) or the 30/34(best).

Ok, here's the scoop;
-I sourced two rear 993 calipers, 30/34's to be exact for $150! I am going to order them tommorow. These are black calipers.

-I found a local auto wrecker who has a 1991 C-4. I can get any of the brake components pretty inexpensively through them. Are the front calipers good for me or should I not bother? I prefer to do it the right way right away.

-I sourced a good used set of 1986 930 front rotors for $50, unfortunatley, I need to get the 78-80 flat rotors, so if anyone wants the contact, let me know.
Thanks again!

Mike

The 964 C4 calipers are ok as long as you use the front and rear calipers as a package, they are hydraulicly incompatible with the 993 rear calipers.. The C4 front calipers are 40/36, the rears are 30/28 unless its a turbo look. I have never tried this but have often wondered if the C4 rotors could be used on an earlier car. Never had a spare set of 964 rotors lying around.

The only front calipers to match the 993 30/34 rear are the 993 front(aka S4) or the Big Red.

The S4 works with either a 304x32 2 piece 930 rotor or a 322x32 2 piece rotor. The Big Red requires the 322x32
