I completely agree with you; I always appreciate specificity. However, the last time I took note, these cars were in fact equipped with two (or more) brake
lights, as in plural. If you were referring to the third centre mounted brake
light, regardless of what some respondents are doing on their cars, the OP didn't indicate he was referring to that single light. Not sure why your comment bothered me - must be in a mood mixed with my NTP personality. I'll try to find humour in it and be sure to include a little winky thing to indicate I'm not all bent out of shape about it. Well, not too much at least...

With regard to the topic at hand, I've seen these flashing lights on some vehicles around town recently. Just today in the lane beside and a couple car lengths ahead with other traffic about, a newish ambulance had the flashy brake lights. When he applied his brakes, the strobe like effect of the flashflashflash, steady really caught my attention. I think these would be a very worthwhile addition to a car in an effort to avoid rear-enders.
