The gauges in the early and late cars read slightly different temperatures. The 924S and 85.1 cars use and 80C thermostat while the 85.5 and turbos use an 83C thermostat. If you use the 83C in an early car the temp gauge will read near the third mark when cruising and if you use an 80C in a turbo or late car the temp needle will sit near the first mark. Just wanted to clarify this since pelican sells both and it might confuse some people. As others have said, there is no benefit to using a colder thermostat, your fans still need to kick on and bring the temperature back down when in traffic. I hope that helps!
