Engine RPM stumble after giving it some gas at idle - Help!
Greetings,
My 92' 325i e36 runs idle great. However, during idle or while in parking, the idle stumble whenever you give it gas around 2K RPM then the engine idle normal again. I have give it a complete tune-up (spark plugs, ignition coils, air, and oil). I also get decent gas mileage. Oh, this is an automatic sedan as well. Please help if you had this problem before and you've corrected it. Thank you in advance. Jat |

I had those symptoms as well for my 97 M3, got a new MAF and that got rid of that problem, id try using some cleaner on your current MAF to see if that fixes it, if not then grab a new one
the icv is probably a good bet to like the guy sugested above |

spray the icv with brake clean and the little impelor looking piece should move back and forth freely. before i cleaned mine if you held it in your hand like a flashlight and twisted your hand back and forth like screwing in a screw nothing happened after cleaning it you could feel the impellor click back and forth like oil and ice

under the intake towards the front it has a tube that runs to the elbow just before the throttle body. and i know for a fact the big tube going into the black plastic intake on the underside of it connects to the icv. icv is about 8 inches long and maybe 1 3/4 around. if you want email me direct at reneelipieko@yahoo.com and i can get back and forth faster if you have text or yahoo chat let me know thanks

Still raining here in Minnesota. We expect to have some sun on Saturday and Sunday, so I will plan on cleaning the ICV then.

i did the first time and after that i figured a way to do it without taking the intake apart. the icv has a piece of rubber it slides into instead of being bolted in i dont remember push or pull but there is only one way it can go because of the rubber hoses going into it. one hose goes into the back of the manifold and i dont remember where the other goes. the hard part about taking the intake of is you really should take off the piece on the firewall that sits all the way to the back of the motor. im trying to figure out how to send some pages out of my bentley but havnt figured it out yet. call me i sent the number off my reneelipieko@yahoo.com mail it'd be easier than trying to explain than on the forum

To jat007 : You didn't mention the fuel filter, is there one or is it in the tank on your model? Second, I would recomend checking the fuel pressure. Clean the throttle body bore out with a stiff tooth brush and some carb cleaner, ( not a wire brush) this sometimes helps with acceleration and idle problems. If there is a fuel filter that is replaceable, I would definatly replace it. Good luck.
