What would keep wheel alignment from re-adjusting and self adjusting?
I hit a bump the the car pulls to the left, I hit another bump it seems to not pull anymore and looks like it fixed it self.. few miles later If i hit a bump it may pull again and now to the right side. The steering wheel is not loose and it responds well, and I don't hear any noises. What would keep the wheel alignments from going crazy like this? Any recommendations where I should start to look at? Thanks in advance. |

There is nothing in your wheel alignment that is intended to be self-adjusting.
My guess is that you have some component that is badly worn and it shifted to a new position when you hit the bump and then coincidentally shifted back later to its original position. Most likely something in the rear end, like a subframe bushing or a control arm bushing. It will only get worse until you check it out and replace the worn component(s). |

Thanks Manolito, that is exactly what I was trying to say, something is shifting into a new position back and forth when I hit bumps, I also noticed when stopped if I turn the wheel all the way to either side it helps... It feels like it's the front. Do you think I can visually see the issue?

Since turning the wheel affected it, suspicion turns toward tie rod ends or a rack that that is loose or damaged internally.
To check the inner tie rod ends, you squeeze the bellows so you can feel the tie rod end inside and have someone move the wheel or the steering wheel. If it has looseness in it, you will be able to feel it. Also check the bearing mounts at the top of the front struts for damage. |

Hey guys!!!
Hope you enjoyed the holiday breaks!!! I have not addressed this issue yet. I probably drove 2k or less on it since my last post, I'm thinking I may have made the problem more obvious or worse. I know the issue is there and I just noticed it's also riding a little rougher. When I hit my brakes it seems the steering wheel start shaking. It just doesn't drive smooth as before, actually I don't recall ever riding 100% smooth since I got it in March. I'm know I probably will need new rotors and pads and I was thinking I may need to replace the Control Arms, I have no idea what the previous owner did. It looks like the Struts appear to be recently replaced, ( if what I looked at bearing mounts looks pretty new )but the suspensions look like it may need replacement? Not really sure. What do you guys recommend I go ahead and look for and replace while I'm changing out all 4 rotors and pads? Thanks! |

This sentence is key....
Change these front control arm bushings. When you step on the brakes its banging the control arm into the lollipop shaped bracket. Thats why you feel it in your steering wheel but feels like brakes. I'm pretty confidant this will fix your prob. Control arms themselves are a good idea too, but this part in pic can be done both sides in short time and will fix alot if you dont have time for the arms themselves ![]()
