This seems like a no brainer to me, but know the diversity of opinions in this place I'm sure someone with side with RT (our son in law).
Our grandson (CK) worked his tail off this summer and made the starting lineup on his Jr Varsity football team. He did great in their opening game last week.

So RT gets tickets to their favorite Big 10 game Saturday for some of his drunkass friends and for his sons . If CK goes to the Big 10 game he will miss his second game as a starter. His coach is furious and gave him a talking to about letting the team down. His mother echoed the coach. I tried to tell him as a starter he is a leader, he needs to show the team he is a leader and step up and do the right thing. I asked him if going to this game was worth throwing away all his hard work and giving up a starting position on his team. He doesn't think he'll lose his starting position, his dad says he won't and if he does he has a crappy coach (for expecting discipline and commitment? I don't think so). If they have 12 players on the team this coach will have CK on the bench for the rest of the season and I support that.
I'm sure there are dissenting opinions here.
