Not sure if this applies to the valve covers, but many of the Porsche engine parts are date coded by a number (year) surrounded by a circle of dots (number of dots = month)
Of course the dots aren't so obvious on parts made early in the year

yes... there are dots... so basically the valve covers I have are dated December 1985.
Just curious then... does the date on the valve covers match the date of the car?
