It couldn't hurt to jack the rear wheels up (supported securely with jack stands, of course), start the motor, put it in gear and let the rear wheels rotate. Then you'll be able to see if the wheel or axle is bent. I saw a 968 Cabrio driving down the road the other day with a wheel that was wobbling horribly. I motioned him to stop, and he said he felt no vibration at all.
I hope your car is okay, but checking it will give you peace of mind.
