I've had a 944 MAX chip in my RoW '86 944 for several years and I can happily tell you it makes a huge difference in drivability for our cars too- smoother idle, fast revving, better part throttle and full throttle maps. The stock tune on the RoW 944's is just as conservative and old-school but for our spec.

I bought mine from Russell Berry before his chips migrated to LR, so I was able to tailor it more to my car- RoW compression, 98 RON and redline increased 500 rpm.
