If it is a late model car, I recommend using a local Porsche dealer. I have used a dealer 3 separate times.

The first time I looking at a 2008 Cayman S being sold at a high-line used car dealer in Chicago which is 850 miles from my home. The Dealer, Napleton Porsche, performed a complete inspection and the Cayman passed with flying colors and I owned it 3 years with no troubles.

The second time a Cayman R came to market, also in Chicago being sold by another high line used car dealership. I got Napleton to once again perform a PPI. This time they reported some undisclosed small paint repairs and they noted some over-revs. In addition they reported that the car must have spent a large majority of its life on a race track and autocross courses as the computer showed many hours at full throttle. I passed on the car.

I later found a 991,also in Chicago, being sold by an individual. For the third time, Napleton performed a PPI. The car passed and 3 years later is still gracing my garage.

All the PPI were less than $600.00 if my memory serves me. The service manager remembered me and treated me accordingly.

There is no doubt in my mind that the money I spent at Napleton was well spent.

Food for thought.
