Works for me. On heels and fingertips just under the nail. Sanding down helps a lot too. With both, they don't crack open again and again. They heal instead.

another vote FOR superglue here, when the tip of fingers beside nail has split I've been glueing the edges together which holds it for a couple of days while it heals,

(usually caused by working in the rain which I understand is due to an amount of acid in rain drops, as opposed treated water in tub which has been processed to remove it as I understand)
