I have car camped for many years with a tent setup ... haha. It totally sucks. My family's excitement about going camping went up 1000% once we got the camper. That includes me.
You haul a lot of stuff car camping with a tent. It all has to come out and go back in. Stove, coolers, sleeping pads, sleeping bags, pillows, lamps etc. It felt like I am constantly loading and unloading crap. In a truck camper all is contained and I only throw in fresh food, fill up the water and I am ready to go. Previously tent camping, even with all camping gear in a pile and packing lists, it would always be a major effort to get ready for a trip, set up when there, tear down and then upon return stow it all again ready to go out again.
