Fourties seems to be the cutoff unless you want to go modern drivetrain / suspension. There are some guys in town getting out the model Ts when there is a parade or historic event. It is not my cup of tea. These really old cars are too close to a horse and carriage for me and you can't drive them in normal flow of traffic, you are a road block.
I'd be more interested in an early MC. Takes less space to store and are more reasonable to ride, IMHO. I recall seeing a bunch of crazy guys cross the salt lakes on 80 in UT on vintage bikes from the 30s (?). This was in 2012 or so. They were on a cross-US tour. A lot of them were blowing smoke and not looking so great, but it looked like these nutcases were enjoying the experience. They were going west, so by UT they had seen thousands of miles.
