Buy a hoist, break it down enough where it will fit your truck.
When at yard, assemble hoist, hoist the engine in bed
Take apart hoist, load it, go home.
Reverse at home ...
If you don't have a truck, SUV or wagon should do too.
This is how I always have done it. I think I was never without a truck or SUV in my life.
