I know that feeling! Most every home mechanic does.
I recently replaced the crank seal on the pulley end of the crank. Lots of stuff has to come off to get to it. The seal install went fine, and as I was trying to get the engine mount that surrounds the pulley to align with the cross bar engine support it was just not fitting.
Finally I slapped my forehead, let out a Homer Simpson DOH! and jacked the engine back up the two inches I had lowered it to remove the old seal.
