Is this normal?

Door solenoid connector rod is broken, but the pix shows detail of ball end bound up by some type of mechanism below it/capturing it. The door control rod cannot be forced to rotate downward due to the "mechanism". I have ordered the plastic connecting rod, but unless the rotation of the ball end can be freed I'm sure it also will fail under the stress of activation. Suggestions/problem fix/remedy? 1986 Porsche 911 Cab.

C'mon guys, doesn't anyone have any feedback? How does the connecting rod connect to an immoveable ball joint? What could be blocking/binding it? Please???

well? I can suggest to take the door panel off and look at it from that direction. It is possible that your unide..part is a spring(bad angle to see) so you might ended up taking the door look assembly out..come to look at it again you might have the panel already off.
Take another picture direction

UPDATE: The problem is now best explained by the photo below. It seems the binding is coming from the window track pushing against the horizontal pivot rod that moves when the electric locks are triggered by key or current. The dog is not movable with a significant amount of finger pressure. Anyone move their window track adjustment forward and can offer advice? All assistance appreciated!

loose the track and see if that helps-- you did not do that yet?

Proporsche, that is what ham attempting to do. I can't find guidance on the site. Two screws appear to hold the track at the top of the door frame (ext) The window needs to be moved forward about 3/16" but again no "How to" guidance. I adjusted the the top edge of glass to be correct before discovering the "problem" source (I hope) w/lock. Any helpful guidance? The door lock itself is so stout I cannot believe it is damaged. Hopefully just bound somewhere?
Thank you!

the frame should not be touching the door lock..
Did you take the door panel off?
when you operate the door lock without the rod connected does it move?

Stupidity raises it's ugly and pervasive head... I feel like an idiot. After about 14 hours of intensive labor, frustrating and cramped, after trying everything I could think of and PP experts had suggested, it dawned on me. Working with door open means latch is open. Bright light, aha moment! Rotate latch 90 degrees vertical into closed position and voila. Everything moves like it should. Window still needs slight forward adjustment as previously stated, but I will now install new $4 control rod and be done with this hateful mind altering problem. Thanks all! KISS!

I know that feeling! Most every home mechanic does.

I recently replaced the crank seal on the pulley end of the crank. Lots of stuff has to come off to get to it. The seal install went fine, and as I was trying to get the engine mount that surrounds the pulley to align with the cross bar engine support it was just not fitting.

Finally I slapped my forehead, let out a Homer Simpson DOH! and jacked the engine back up the two inches I had lowered it to remove the old seal.
