Do you still have a auxiliary air valve? Just this year mine exhibited the same symptoms and upon disassembly I found that a solder joint had broke, thus the 12v was not making it to the heating element.
When working properly, you’ll get more air through the AAV and thus a high idle, for about 90 seconds or so before the heating element expands and closes off the air pathway via a sliding valve inside it.
