Later I'll take a look and see if there are protection (stop) features built into the rail in one direction or the other. Remember I have an 89. I think in 88-89 there were all sorts of changes. Hard to say at this point. The important thing is to limit the travel if some sort of damage will occur.
I'm guessing that a typical person will and can certainly push back with more force and more often than pulling the seat forward.
