Geoff,
It looks like you received a pump for a later model Porsche. The part number you provided is not the same as the original '84 911 pump, which has a 928 part number. I have seen this same pump in my former '87 911 and current '86 911.

Here's a picture of the pump (not my picture, taken from another thread on the forum) and you'll see on the top there are two basic spade style wire connections
Maybe consider returning the pump you received and order the part number 928-628-074-01 and the two wires in the car will plug right in?
