I think that's called "degloving." I've seen photos in safety meetings at a previous workplace. Yikes. I could have had the same thing happen to myself as a teen with my class ring. I jumped up to pull down a gate at the entrance to a store in a mall. My ring caught for a split second and twisted on my finger. I had a small cut, but that was it. I got lucky.

No. I was in a career where wearing a ring could be problematic. Case on point, my twin brother, (same profession) got a ring from his girlfriend. Met me for lunch before work and showed it to me.
