So I purchased a 05 S from a lady who was selling her sons estate. I got little info on why the car was parked. I got it home and tried starting it up today. Instantly white smoke poured from the exhaust, and alot of it. I shut the engine off immediately. I’ve been reading on here and other places on the internet, and the common problem seems to be the cylinder heads crack. Maybe it’s a head gasket? (Very unlikely I know!)

I have a few projects going on at the moment, but I’d like to dig into this one also, my wife’s eager to have her own toy to run around in. I’m going to have to shuffle a garage spot between this and the wife’s daily. So I’d like to keep this as a roller.

My question, can I drop the engine with the trans, and keep the car as a roller? I can easily pull it in and out with a truck or tractor. That would make my life much easier as I can still pull my 944 to finish and the wife’s daily for the night.

I was also considering pulling the heads with the engine in the car, but I would be much better off dropping the complete engine and going over it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
