If there is any you could use something like Rust dissolver to clean it up, or vinegar for longer time. If it is clean I would do what you are thinking with some 2 stroke oil and gas.

Thanks - I'll use the gas/oil mix after the baking soda then. Tank wasn't really bad so just trying to hedge my bets going forward.
