Not the 123, check the mixture. I suppose that it runs way too rich. Don't combine a 123 with a MSD. There were reports here that this combo let run the pistons on too high temps while cruising lower than 3000 rpm when the MSD fires multiple times instad of single sparks ...no personal experience. I run a 123 with a Permatune box as amplifier. Tachometer is connected to the Permatune box only. No problems.runs like a dream. No popping at all. Some say the power of the 123 with their own coils is high enough even for carburetted engines. Be aware on connecting the electronic Porsche tachometer on the coil output of the 123. This puts too high voltages on the tachometer and damages it. You have to limit these...
