Dizzy 180 out?
I am working on a 914-6 with a 2.7 that formerly had a sniper EFI put on by another guy. My task was to put brakes and carbs on the car for the guy. They put a 123 dizzy in it prior to me getting involved with the project. Currently starts pretty decent but spits quite a bit of fuel up as I throttle up through the mid range. It clearly seems timing related. Plug wires are confirmed, and ran ok prior to 123 dizzy according to the owner. It idles pretty good but is over fueling which I don’t believe is actually over fueling but rather timing related. I am suspect of the 123 install as it seems like it could be 180 out. The engine is relatively fresh within 1000 miles but I was not part of any of the build. Kind of picking up the pieces here. I should mention he is not running any cdi on this car as well.
What am I missing here?

Rest assured, it’s something but it’s not 180* out.

In my experience A 123 dist with a regular coil doesn't have enough juice for a hot rod 911 motor with carbs. I know you said EFI but I was having very similar symptoms as you then added a MSD 6al and it transformed the car
The 123 is a great, very adjustable as far as curve, distributor however the ign needs some power and a regular coil isn't going to do it

Agree with gled49.
Not the 123, check the mixture. I suppose that it runs way too rich. Don't combine a 123 with a MSD. There were reports here that this combo let run the pistons on too high temps while cruising lower than 3000 rpm when the MSD fires multiple times instad of single sparks ...no personal experience. I run a 123 with a Permatune box as amplifier. Tachometer is connected to the Permatune box only. No problems.runs like a dream. No popping at all. Some say the power of the 123 with their own coils is high enough even for carburetted engines. Be aware on connecting the electronic Porsche tachometer on the coil output of the 123. This puts too high voltages on the tachometer and damages it. You have to limit these... Thomas

I run my 2.4s with MSD and 123 no issues. Works well. I use color tune so it’s pretty close to the right mixture
