Good questions posed here.
First of all, I love this car. Super reliable, a blast to drive some of the back roads (yes, where I live, on the edge of town, I'm able to find some good roads - at least as good as there are around DFW.). The color (Linen Grey Metallic) is very unusual and original.
I maybe suffering from a bit of the 'grass is greener' syndrome. Despite begin well maintained, at the miles I'm at, likely looking at top-end rebuild, etc. Wondering if I were to swap it out for a newer (albeit less visceral) car, I may enjoy many more years of driving, with little or no expense (wishful thinking?). I only put approx. 3-4K miles per year so definitely just a fun car. I would enjoy a good AC so wifey and I can take it on trips during the heat of the summer.
I prefer Targa - I know, I know all the 'pitfalls' and opinions. But, this is what I want. I kinda dig the rarity of the 997.2 Targa's. Plus, finding a manual tranny is difficult (and priced accordingly).
Really value each of your input. This is why this board is so much fun.
