Hi all, I’ve been having this “click” noise when I open my driver door (near 50-60 degrees) so I assumed a bad door stay and wanted to install the reinforcement kit while in there. I took apart the door card and I’m having trouble getting the outer reinforcement plate to fit because there seems to be pinched metal on the sides of the hole. The metal on the inner part of the door seems okay. I’ve attached pictures of the inner and outer door with and without the door stay. Any suggestions to get the outer plate in place?

I did a trial installation of the new door stay but I’m still getting the clicking noise at positions even closer to the body of the car now.
