It looks like the exterior skin of your door jam is pressed in which is preventing you from installing the reinforcement plate.

You'll have to find some way to pry that metal up so that you can fit the reinforcement plate.

Here is the reinforcement plate installed on my car. It took awhile for me to figure out how to get the plate in, because it is much larger than the hole... you need to slide it in at an angle. Let us know if you need help getting it in there after you get the metal pried up so that it will fit.



In addition to installing a new door check strap, a new check strap pin and the rennline door stay reinforcement kit, I installed door check strap pin retaining clips to make sure the pins do not work themselves out:

Thanks, I’m trying to pry up that metal but I’m having a really hard time. I don’t want to push down too hard and stress the metal below it - making matters much worse. Any tips?
