painting the chip guard / stone guard in most all cases is a bad idea! it will chip the paint off .
cleaning the ZEP industrial purple clean I found works the best for cleaning chassis. I spray it on using a power washer then let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes then with a few different scrub brushes and red scuff pads I will scrub the undercarriage doing one section at a time . after I will again soak the area with more purple cleaner with the power washer and then blast it using the power washer under high pressure.
if you looking to make it black then use black chip guard. personally I like the U-pol. the u-pol will be a flat gloss after it's dried. if you want a mat gloss then you can add in some gloss black paint when you spray it.
