There are a number of portable, battery powered CPAP machines out there.
There was a time when people cared about how they look when flying. I don't think there is much you can do to "look goofy" that hasn't already been done. I'd rather look goofy than fall asleep and snore loud enough to drown out the sound of the engines.
My doctor told me to get up and walk around every half hour or so. I guess blood can pool in your lower legs and cause clots or something. I had an "episode" once after driving for several hours without stopping. Passed out. Doc said, "Don't sit for long periods of time, get up, get your blood moving." On a Europe flight it's hard to do until people start going to sleep.
