The reverse lights and brake lights are separate circuits, but have common grounds through the tail light bucket. The general rule when having problems with brake and signal lights is to remove the buckets and make damn sure the light bulb sockets are clean and tight, and the grounds are clean and have no resistance back to the chassis. Do that first, then report your results.

No reverse lights most likely is caused by a bad connection at the switch on the front of the transmission, or a bad switch.

Have you removed or messed with the tail light buckets recently?
