I soldered in 3/4" copper no problem. That was in 2008. But i removed the lines to do it and that is the sketchiest part because they often strip the threads off the thermostat from corrosion. So first I guess I would try to solder them on the car. Maybe just removing from the front and all the clamps to lower them down. Let them drain a few days and try to swab out as much oil as you can to prevent contamination.
