Crushed oil line

Pretty common to see a crushed oil line right behind the Right front tire. Mine spring a leak there.. Has anybody tried to splice in a piece od 3/4 copper line which seam to be the same O.D. as the brass line. I was thinking of two 3/4 Flare Unions, but only seem to find one that work up to 5/8 copper..

I just cringe at spending $800+ for the hard oil line...
Maybe 2 pieces of rubber hose and clamps? Hard to find oil compatible rubber hose that's 7/8 ID..

Ideas?
I feel like soldering this would be risky??

I wouldn't take the chance with rubber hose and clamps.

Check out this thread: https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/521730-oil-cooler-line-repair-fittings.html

If you remove the oil line (probably the hardest part of the job), use the air pressure method to fix the dent. Then braze the hole.

I think I would try this route. If it doesn't work, replace the line.

It can be fixed with silicon bronze. Buy one of those little bernzomatic torch kits or take it to a welder.

My car had a brass plumbing piece spliced in when I bought the lines. Worked fine for years. Don't see any downside.

See if Chuck has any take offs

I ditched the dealer installed AC when I inherited my dad's 74. Chuck sold me a set of "Take offs" from one of his finned oil line installs. Forgot the price but even with shipping it was reasonable 12-13 years ago.

Former master plumber here- I have used 50-50 solder and a plumbing torch on ordinary plumbing fittings to repair a long oil line without issues

Very little. The lines don't see engine oil pressure.

I know someone with a broken oil line. He cut out the crushed/cracked section, replaced with rubber hose, and generic hose clamps.

So far, it seals and works and doesnt leak. Not what I would do but if it works, why not...
He is a pensioner on a budget so was reluctant to buy new hard lines understandably.

I got new oil lines from The Parter Geeker folks. Was surprised at the prices and quality. On the car not and working just fine, as I finish up my rust repair. Car has AN-12 lines before, brain dead.

I soldered in 3/4" copper no problem. That was in 2008. But i removed the lines to do it and that is the sketchiest part because they often strip the threads off the thermostat from corrosion. So first I guess I would try to solder them on the car. Maybe just removing from the front and all the clamps to lower them down. Let them drain a few days and try to swab out as much oil as you can to prevent contamination.
