I would expect a car bought back under the lemon law to have a branded title. Not necessarily so if the dealer bought it back under "goodwill" and sent it to the auction.

My son bought a MK7 GTI during the pandemic shortage that had a lemon law branded title. First owner apparently lemon lawed it. VW replaced the high pressure fuel pump and injectors, then wholesaled it to another dealer. Second owner didn't drive it much, then traded it in at a land rover dealer, who sent it to auction. We saw it a used car lot at a very attractive price. A friend at a local VW dealer dug out the history for us and confirmed that it was covered under a VW extended warranty.

He's been driving it for years now and it's trouble free.

With 15K miles, is the manufacturer's drivetrain warranty still in effect? It sure sounds like the dealer isn't putting much effort into actually fixing the car....
