the paint looks nice in your pic, but red does fade , I painted my bumper and the difference between old and new paint is pretty noticible.
on mine I believe the OEM guards red paint was not clearcoated but half the car was later repainted with a basecoat clearcoat finish.. ive been trying to cut polish the OEM side to try to being it brighter with some limited results. maybe it can be cut polished and then clear coarted?
spoke to a guy the other day , he has an MG, said he plans to have it "wrapped" andi ts cheaper than a repaint. I dont know anything about wrapping a car as opposed to painting but maybe its a newer option. Id be interested in hearing other's opinions om wrapping cars. how woudl one fix a minor scratch if it's wrapped.
problem often is that the bodyshop will repair it but it could come out not matching too well, especilaly a few years later. A reapint of the whole car may or may not be included in any insurance related repair. you also may not want another coat of paint on top of what you have.
a good bodyman could probably advise more on what to do to best prevent this mismatched paint color issue.
