86 turbo wrong place
My 86 turbo got hit in a Lowe’s parking lot last week. Knocked the suspension out of line. Have to have it towed for rear end work before I can have the rear quarter replaced. Never wrecked prior and original paint. Sucks.

Go for diminished value compensation. The insurance company will fight it but if you can get proper documentation they will have to pay it.

the paint looks nice in your pic, but red does fade , I painted my bumper and the difference between old and new paint is pretty noticible.
on mine I believe the OEM guards red paint was not clearcoated but half the car was later repainted with a basecoat clearcoat finish.. ive been trying to cut polish the OEM side to try to being it brighter with some limited results. maybe it can be cut polished and then clear coarted? spoke to a guy the other day , he has an MG, said he plans to have it "wrapped" andi ts cheaper than a repaint. I dont know anything about wrapping a car as opposed to painting but maybe its a newer option. Id be interested in hearing other's opinions om wrapping cars. how woudl one fix a minor scratch if it's wrapped. problem often is that the bodyshop will repair it but it could come out not matching too well, especilaly a few years later. A reapint of the whole car may or may not be included in any insurance related repair. you also may not want another coat of paint on top of what you have. a good bodyman could probably advise more on what to do to best prevent this mismatched paint color issue. |

I've painted a few 944/951 in Guards / India red. This color was not clearcoated from Porsche. Its gonna be tough or impossible to match. The left bumper cap shows fading.

I will never take my Porsche to any big lot unless its for a car show. Either a shopping cart or a knuckle head will do something to my car.
Your jaw must have dropped when this happend. Did the person who hit your car stop and pay for this ? |

Just read this thread and was sick to my stomach at the initial damage pics. I’d be so bummed. Looks like they did an absolute bang-up job.
I have a question. Where was the forward most/bottom seam on the quarter panel. Did they also replace the whole sill portion under the drivers door to the front fender too? |

The entire rear quarter was replaced. No damage forward of that. Panel ends at the rear of door at the seam line. It was done by a shop that has done about 8 other of the same repair. Absolutely as original. Referred to me by Elliot at 944 Barn. He also provided the donor quarter that came from an 88 Silver Rose that had an engine fire. Donor quarter was perfect with zero damage.
Perfect job! |
