Slow transmission oil leak - Crack it open?
I dropped my engine a few months ago and nearly have it rebuilt. When it was out, I initially put the transmission on its back end in the garage, and found a small puddle there when I looked a week later.
I've since moved it to the normal horizontal position and it leaks more slowly. Still, over the past two months it has slowly been leaking Kendall onto a piece of cardboard underneath it. It is hard to estimate exactly how fast, maybe a tablespoon a week.
I'm planning to wash it down carefully this weekend and get a better scope of the rate of the leak. But I'm wondering if I need to do more than refill it. I rebuilt the transmission in 2017, and haven't opened it in the 8 years since.
