So I went to the store seeking some 5.25s to throw in the front doors and came away with Hertz CX130s.

It was only after I bought the speakers that I realized there was a speaker cup/rain guard in the door. It's farcically shallow, and so won't accept the modern speakers. I think I need about 2.25 inches to clear it.

I thought about going without the rain guard, but that doesn't seem prudent and in any case, the speaker won't screw in properly without the guard itself.

To the guys who have dealt with this in the past, how did you handle it? I see that there are some Porsche parts that sort of look like they'll work in one way, but don't seem to be the real solution for the issue. It doesn't look like it would mount properly to the door. Part number 911-555-217-00-OEM

I found others out there that look like they can be 3d printed, but those don't look like they'll really work either.

How should I handle this?

Agree with the semi rigid. I had to do some cutting of the foam so I think I ordered 2 sets and returned the unused set after I figured everything out. I also did new holes for the new speaker and foam. Went 12-3-6-9 o clock and used some good screws with good threads and have had the speakers out numerous times.

Keep us posted!
