Glad you got it fixed.
The weirdest clutch problem I ever encountered also turned out not to be a clutch problem. Triumph Spitfire clutch would not disengage. Long story short, the crankshaft thrust bearing was gone. Gone as in not there anymore. Probably in many past oil filters.
