I stopped waxing my cars about 5 years ago and switched to ceramic coatings.
Ceramic coatings (not ceramic wax or spay) take much more effort to apply, but then last for years with no maintenance other than washing the car.
Here is my car three years after a ceramic coat. The only thing I've done to the car since the ceramic coat is to wash it.
