Look, I'm on your side and I grew up around more Native Americans than possibly anyone here...Minneapolis and the state of Minnesota has a huge population. You are 100% correct that most NA people do not mind that sports teams have names like, "Braves," etc. I suppose that within the NA population, like any group, there are people with varying views on things like politics and sports team names.
My dad was a defense lawyer on the Federal Wounded Knee trial back in the '70s, it was AIM, or the American Indian Movement. Names and norms change over time but I still know plenty American Indians today, none of them are pussies or thin skinned. God help the fool who actually offends them, though. They are a tough bunch.
It's not about PC or DEI, (BS terms if there ever were), it's about not using actual slurs to refer to people. That's what the OP was about and I stand by my first post on the thread.
