A 2.0 914 engine with L-jet EFI is exactly what you see in the picture. Of course, it also has air conditioning (the compressor is the thing on the right with the pulley), and a smog pump (center with a pulley), and so on.
Other differences include the exhaust system, which obviously has to point the other way because the engine is in the back of the car and not the middle. At least some came with catalytic converters and/or thermal reactors. None of which are great for performance, particularly the way Porsche first did them.
I'm not aware of any internal differences between the late 2.0 (GC code) 914 engines and the 912E engines.
