With respect to the butterflies, I should be able to go through a slow turn in 3rd or 4th gear by smoothly rolling off the throttle (until closed) and then getting smoothly back on it. I think that when I did this, the bike lurched. It could be that my untrained hand is too rough for the KS throttle. When I finally get my KS, hopefully within a couple of weeks, I'll be able to tell for sure what's happening, and, if I still see a problem, I'll sound off.
Sport riding books, such as those by Keith Code and Lee Parks, emphasize rolling smoothly off the throttle as you lean into turns, then back on (maintenance) throttle through the turn. I was trying to put this into practice during my (relaxed) test ride. At higher RPM's, there would certainly have been no problem
No matter what, this possible "quirk" will have no effect on my decision to buy the bike. Indeed, my test ride convinced me more than ever that this is the bike I want.
