stutter
Has anyone else noticed engine stutter at around 2000 rpm in second gear? Would a software update resolve this issue?

In my vast experience on this bike (total of 60 miles over two test rides
) I didn't notice any stutter at all anywhere. I thought the FI was pretty well sorted. fwiw,

On my half-hour test drive, I noticed that closing the throttle at low RPM's, then opening it again, caused a lurch. I read somewhere that the electronics are programmed to close the butterflies at 3000 RPM, when you close the throttle completely, then they snap back open when you get back on the throttle. This annoyed me in a couple of slow turns, but I could probably easily avoid it after some practice. Some people have talked about feeling a driveshaft lash, but my problem felt more like it was the butterflies.
Otherwise, I felt no roughness, stutter, surging, etc., at any RPM up to 6000 (and I went no faster, since the bike only had 100 miles on it). The tranny felt good to me, with no clunks that I noticed, and I never hit neutral when I wasn't aiming for it -- but I've ridden big tourers for the last several years, and I was using the clutch.

My FI is very smooth all the way through. I did notice that it does not like to be closed throttle at low RPMs while in gear. So I stopped being lazy and pulled in the clutch.

With respect to the butterflies, I should be able to go through a slow turn in 3rd or 4th gear by smoothly rolling off the throttle (until closed) and then getting smoothly back on it. I think that when I did this, the bike lurched. It could be that my untrained hand is too rough for the KS throttle. When I finally get my KS, hopefully within a couple of weeks, I'll be able to tell for sure what's happening, and, if I still see a problem, I'll sound off.
Sport riding books, such as those by Keith Code and Lee Parks, emphasize rolling smoothly off the throttle as you lean into turns, then back on (maintenance) throttle through the turn. I was trying to put this into practice during my (relaxed) test ride. At higher RPM's, there would certainly have been no problem No matter what, this possible "quirk" will have no effect on my decision to buy the bike. Indeed, my test ride convinced me more than ever that this is the bike I want.
