wow. blasting with "sand" would scare me to death. you would need to have a fine touch. perhaps "plastic" media would be a better choise. soaking them in pbblaster, marvel mystery oil, or aero kroil might do the job. if the throttle plate shafts are frozen to the bushings or the venturii, don't FORCE them!! you'll could do some real damage. home freshening is fine for a set of carbs that operate, but it sounds like you have some real issues. imho, check with davep(?) from the other "place' and see if he can steer you to a canadian rebuilder. consider the value of a properly rebuilt set of webers or dels before you spring for a set of rebuild/gasket kits.
