When I was a young lad I worked at the local newspaper in the inserting dept. The guys who run the machines used Glycerin to keep their hands moist from handling tons or newspaper. One told me he uses it on the rubber seals on his car and stated it was the best thing to keep the rubber like new and pliable.

He was correct it does work and lasts awhile too. As for anything wet put on black rubber it is going to make it shine till it dries. I have tried many chemicals to give it a fresh look and all seem to fade back to the begining except for Glycerine. It can be purchased at the pharmacy.

All you can do is give it a go!
