I think I'd leave the P-car behind, especially if you're not used to driving in Regina in the winter.
I'm from Regina and have driven the rough pot-holed roads for many many years. Rear wheel drive cars is all I had there too; fun in the snow. If I were to go back (which I won't), I thought it would be fun (for me, not suggesting you do) to have the P-car experience since the engine sits over the drive wheels and it's air cooled. VW beetles were well known to be good in the snow, I imagine a P-car would be too with proper narrow tires. You get good at fish-tailing. Anyhow, find yourself a beater and drive that. Buy it there since it will likely have a block heater (you'll need it).
